Automatic qualifiers for American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoffs
The USTA announced the automatic qualifiers for the American Collegiate Player Wild Card Playoffs, coming June 16-18.
The playoffs will be a small event with just a four player draw for singles and four team draw for doubles. Winners will receive US Open main draw singles wild card slots, while finalists will receive US Open qualifying wild card slots.
The USTA grants automatic qualification to the Wild Card Playoffs for NCAA Division I finalists in the individual singles and doubles championships held the previous fall.
Automatic qualifiers include:
- Reese Brantmeier, UNC — Women's singles champion
- Michael Zhang, Columbia — Men's singles champion
- Trevor Svajda, SMU — Men's singles runner-up
- Nikita Filin/Brandon Carpico, Ohio State — Men's doubles runner-ups
Based on the nature of the US Open, players must be American. The Division I championship finalists that are NOT ELIGIBLE include:
- Dylan Dietrich(Switzerland)/Mans Dahlberg(Sweden), Virginia — Men's doubles champions
- Gabriella Broadfoot(South Africa)/Victoria Osuigwe(United States), NC State — Women's doubles champions
- Sophia Webster(United States)/Célia-Belle Mohr(France), Vanderbilt — Women's doubles runner-ups
- Berta Passola Folch(Spain), Cal — Women's singles runner-up
That leaves two or three spots in each draw for at-large bids. Those will be announced May 27, selected by a committee made up of USTA staff, college tennis coaches and an ITA representative.
The event will be held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
